Real Name: Ororo Iquadi Munroe
Code Name: Storm
Faction: X-Men
Date of Birth: May 4th
Height: 5'11”
Weight: 127 lbs [58 kg]
Physical Description:
Ororo has been described as 'striking' before, and while she thinks this is a gross exaggeration, it seems to be rather fitting. Her dark, near-mocha skin is contrasted by the white hair with ever changing length. By this point, she seems to have settled on keeping it long, but always seems to be pondering what to do next. Her eyes are almost cerulean blue in colour, and fade to white whenever she uses her powers. Her clothing seems to change as often as the weather, anything from black leather to revealing two pieces. However, she seems most comfortable in something simple, a loose pair of jeans or a warm sweater. She avoids shoes as often as she can, but will usually settle on a pair of loose sandals- another advantage of not being affected by the weather is not needing to wear seasonal clothing.
Personality:
Ororo tries to keep a cool, calm demeanour as often as possible, but is not impossible to anger. When calm, she holds a motherly air about her, doting on her students and treating them as if they were her own children. However, once she is angered, she becomes as her name sake states- a storm.
Luckily she is not very easily angered- she would rather spend her energy on more positive things. She enjoys gardening and being in the open air, preferring to stay in Westchester rather than move into the bustling city. She moves at her own pace and like to take her time with things.
Ororo has adapted to the idea of being a mutant and tries to use it to the benefit of those around her. However, this proves to be difficult at times, as her emotions do take control. She sees the people around her and the world around her as beautiful things, each to be treated with respect. That goes for all of man kind, human and mutant alike.
Powers:
-Atmokinesis: Storm's mutation gives her the ability to control the weather and the elements. However, she cannot create these elements. She can see the energy patterns of the weather and mold them to her will, leading people to describe her abilities as 'sculpting'. She can manipulate them on various scales, from a gentle breeze used to cool off the mansion or an entire blizzard to harm her opponents. This is where most of her offensive and defensive attacks come from- unfortunatly, her mutation also acts on her emotions. This has led to trouble in the past and resulted in her becoming very withdrawn.
-Flight: Perhaps her favourite gift that her mutation granted her was the ability to fly. What she is actually doing is moving on the wind currents. She can use this ability to move herself, objects, and even other people with her.
-Energy Manipulation: When she uses her powers, Ororo becomes one with her energy. She can project electricity, extreme heat and extreme cold through her body. When pushed to the edge, she has been seen as being taken over by the elements, becoming a being with lightning for hair and breath of fire and ice.
-Weather Resistance: Ororo has shown to be unaffected by the natural weather. She is not affected by the extreme heat or cold, and can conduct electricity through herself when using it as an attack. However- if the weather is generate by another person as an attack (For instance, Thor) she can be injured.
Weaknesses:
-Claustrophobia: Due to a a childhood experience, Ororo suffers from debilitating claustrophobia. It was at one point so severe that it would result in a meltdown where she was unable to move, crying. She is moving slowly through it, but she still has a lot of trouble in tight spaces.
-Physical Condition: Storm is limited by the strength of her body. If she is weak or tired, she will not have as much control.
-Naturally Occurring Limitations Storm can only manipulate weather currents that naturally exist. If she is on another planet, she cannot create weather that would not naturally occur there.
Skills: She is also an expert thief, and has been from a young age, as well as a marksman through her training with Wolverine.
Equipment/Weaponry: She always carries a set of lock picks on hand, and grew accustomed to carrying a knife for self-defence after she lost her powers.
Known Relatives: Harriet Munroe (paternal grandmother); David Munroe (father, deceased); N'Daré Munroe (mother, deceased); Ainet (unofficial foster mother); Achmed El Gibár (unofficial foster father); Colonel Shetani (maternal uncle); David Munroe Jr. (cousin)
History: Ororo Iquadi Munroe is an African-American mutant with the ability to control and manipulate the weather. She is the youngest descendant of an age old line of African Priestesses, all with white hair and blue eyes. She was born to N'Dare and David Munroe, who had met in Kenya and moved to Manhattan, where she was born.
When she turned six-months, the family moved to Cairo, Egypt. At five, a plane crashed into her home, destroying the building and killing her mother and father. Ororo was trapped for three days while her mother lay dying only feet away from her, leaving her with horrific memories and traumatic claustrophobia.
She managed to escape the wreckage with little more than the clothing she was wearing and her mothers ruby, which had been passed down the line. She was quickly taken in by Achmed El Gibár, when she had attempted to pick-pocket him. She became his star pupil, being taught how to open any lock.
During this time, she briefly met Charles Xavier in an attempt to pick-pocket him. However, he was attacked by another mutant and she escaped.
Wander lust hit her, and Ororo found herself wandering south out of Egypt. It was during her travels that she nearly was raped by a man offering her a ride to the next town. She killed him in self-defence, and swore in that moment to never take another humans life. This incident haunted her, and she found male contact difficult for many years. Her mutant ability manifested while she near-died from exhaustion and heat stroke trekking across the Sahara desert, and is more than likely the only reason she survived.
When she reached the land of her ancestors in Kenya, she was taken in by Ainet, a tribal woman who began to teach her how to be responsible with her powers. Soon, the local tribes began to think of her and worship her as a Goddess.
After a fight in the Savage Lands with the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier came and recruited Ororo to join his team. It was he who gave her the codename 'Storm'. He explained to her that she was not a Goddess, but a mutant, and he could teach her to further control her powers. Curious, she accepted his offer and returned with him to New York. When most of the original team left, Ororo remained behind and became a part of the new X-Men.
Storm has been through many things with the X-Men. They taught everything she knew about a modern world- from her how to, more or less, properly speak English and how to behave in the American society, such as wearing clothing more often. While she still is a bit of a wild child, Ororo has learned how to become a model citizen and balance her natural life with her newer one. She is always curious as to what tomorrow will bring, and is hopeful for the future of her kind.
Sample RP:
Some mornings, waking up was entirely too difficult. The sun streamed between the curtains, an almost too perfect beam of light cast across the bed Ororo shared with her lover. Her snowy hair splayed about her before she rolled slowly onto his chest, dark skin contrasting against his pale, near white skin. She gently traced a finger along his bare chest, before laying her head over his heart and listening. It was racing...she liked to tell herself it was from her simple touch, but knew he was probably having another of his wild dreams.
Trying not to wake Logan, she carefully slid out from underneath the covers, pulling them back over his broad chest before slipping on her robe and padding across the floor in her bare feet to the bathroom. She ran the water and stared in the mirror as it began to heat up. Her hair was an absolute mess, she noted, running her fingers through the tangled ends. Testing the water with her fingers, Ororo quickly dropped her robe in a heap on the floor and stepped inside.
She carefully picked up her shampoo, inhaling the scent of coconut milk and orchid before massaging it against her scalp. It was rare for her to wake up before Logan, and she loved having the few extra minutes- though they usually lasted no more than a half hour- to herself. Usually when she awoke, she would find him either meditating out on their balcony or already down in the danger room, getting in his early morning training. It never failed to surprise her how he could get moving that quickly. Ororo would much rather linger in bed for as long as she could drag it out, then slowly wake and make her way down to the kitchen.
As she dipped her hair back, rinsing the foam from her hair, she let out a relaxed sigh. The second she passed through those doors, out of her bedroom and into the school, she knew the rapid activity would start and she wouldn't have another moment of peace to herself until the next morning. For whatever reason, a small smile creeped onto her lips.
She couldn't wait.
